Directions to the Hans Bethe House The street address for the Hans Bethe House is officially 314 West Avenue, Ithaca, NY 14850.
NOTE: Please consult the campus map!! Using the above address in Mapquest does not get you to the correct place. It is nearby, but not correct. I used 6499 Sperry Hall, which I found by playing with the GPS, and it got me to the parking lot by the building. That parking lot is also known as Forest Park Lane. This was a problem for many in past years, so beware. Safe driving, Livia Sabourin.

Logistics & What to bring to Cornell 2011 SLMS Leadership Retreat
NOTE: The bedrooms are NOT air-conditioned but the common areas in the halls and suite lounges are. Some people keep their bedroom doors open within the suite, others find opening the windows (they have screens) and/or bringing small fans is fine. There is a ceiling fan in each room. Plan to run the shower ta while the first time to get the water hot before the first person gets in! There is no mirror in the bedroom.
Already here, Sara KJ

What to bring? Possibilities are:
Laptop/iPad/Netbook/Tablet and power cords for the workshop.
√ Flashlight (in case of power outage)
√ Alarm clock
√ Coffee pot
√ Radio/iPod
√ Shorts, jeans, capris (dress is very casual)
√ Your favorite library t-shirts. You may want to bring your favorite badge holder to hold your keys, etc.
√ Sweatshirt/sweater (air-conditioned meeting room may require layers of clothing)
√ Umbrella & raincoat/jacket
√ Extension cords for your hairdryer/electric shaver/Laptop and power cord for the workshop.
Small fan. Lounges in the dorms are air conditioned but individual bedrooms are not.
√ You don’t need to bring linens, towels and soap; those are provided. NEW: DO bring something to carry your toiletry items to the suite bathroom.
Library-related items for an auction (and cash or checkbook)! We will have an auction* on Monday evening to benefit the Carol Kearney Leadership Retreat Scholarship.

This will be my first time attending. What is the Leadership Auction about? What should I bring? On Monday evening, we will gather after dinner for a program related activity (Tech Smackdown this year) and then will help raise funds for the Carol A. Kearney Leadership Retreat Scholarship by bringing items, library-related or white elephant in good shape, to donate to the auction. Items should be in good condition and baskets of related items are encouraged. Please bring some gently used books and other items to sell. If you can put several items together in a basket that would be great. However, there are volunteers who help put baskets together immediately after the Monday afternoon workshop. Please make sure all items you bring are clean and in good condition. All proceeds from the auction go directly towards scholarships for retreat participants the following year. Thus, bring items to donate and cash or a checkbook; there will be some real bargains! (Items for the auction should be brought to the conference room first thing Monday AM or after lunch.)

Thank you to all who can donate items.

We will have access to Cornell’s exercise facilities & pool. You may also want to bring good walking shoes as Ithaca & Cornell have many places to explore.
